Who we are...
We are a parent support group for families of gifted children. We serve families with children enrolled in RISD, as well as surrounding districts and the homeschooling population. We strive to support gifted children and their families in a variety of ways and work closely with the school district to advocate for the unique educational needs of the gifted. We have incorporated an email list, Facebook group, and newsletter to support the flow of information, communication, and networking within the community. Please connect with us through these avenues to stay up to date about our special events and community activities. Please support the goals of Richardson Gifted by becoming a member. Twice-Exceptional (2e) Students Some students considered academically gifted also have special needs and/or learning differences. If your child has an IEP, a 504 Plan, or a known or suspected learning difference/disability of any type, a number of resources exist to help you and your school meet your child's needs. You may wish to start with the TEA Website for Twice-Exceptional Students and G/T Services: http://www.gtequity.org/twice.php There is another great resource in RISD for parents of gifted children (including those that are twice-exceptional) called SAGE - Special and Gifted Education. Click here for an informative chart that shows how SAGE and Richardson Gifted support the needs of gifted children and their families. Other resources:
